Boombox Parade July 4, 2002

In 1986 no band could be found to play for the Independence Day parade in Willimantic. So, a local activist proposed that the local radio station play march music at exactly 11 o'clock and anyone who wanted to march bring a "boombox" radio--and a tradition was born

The 17th annual parade was the longest ever (it took 90 minutes to pass by)
